DLP at Torah High School: Presentation by Rebecca Leeman

A new dimension in Holocaust education was introduced to Torah High this Yom HaShoah through one of our outstanding sophomores, Rebecca Leeman, who is also one of DLP’s 2022 Ellie Lainer Youth Leadership Award Recipients.

Thank you also to Ms. Leeman, who did an incredible job leading an interactive, multidisciplinary program centered around the evocative artwork of David Labkovski. She has taken the initiative to become an ambassador and docent for the David Labkovski Project. Her hours and hours of preparation, refinement, intellectuality, creativity, and pedagogy made the David Labkovski Project come to life for the Torah High students.

Through detailed discussions and activities, the Torah High students connected to the grandeur of pre-war Vilna, the horrors of the Holocaust, the suffering in the gulag in Siberia, and with survivors rebuilding their lives in Israel after the war.

“The most powerful Holocaust program I have participated in.”

“Through the artwork and the discussions, I felt like I had actually been a witness to the horrible events.”
