This event took place on January 29, 2023 2:00PM-4:00PM.

Location:
Temple Beth Sholom

“The exhibit and program were sensational. Leora Raikin gave a truly excellent presentation on her great-uncle’s work as well as being a docent as we had a group go through the exhibit.”

Susan Dubin, Director, Kronberg Mack Holocaust Center, Las Vegas

Here are some comments from teachers in Las Vegas who attended:

“In the paintings I saw, you could really see the person’s facial features, the color of their eyes, and their facial expressions as if he took a picture with his mind and made it as a painting.”

“This exhibit puts a personal narrative on the human suffering that was endured. It allows the participants to see raw emotion witnessed through the eyes of the artist. I gained even more of an understanding of the Holocaust. The exhibit is still very relevant today. I think we need to show the horror of what can happen with extreme prejudice and discrimination. The horror of the Holocaust started with a radical belief and became acts of terror and inhumane conduct against a group of people. Hopefully exhibits like this can promote tolerance and understanding of other people.”

“Visiting this exhibit can impact issues of prejudice and discrimination in today’s world because the emotions it presents are so personally raw and unfiltered. Unfortunately, I think some people don’t care about an event that happened long ago in a place far away to a relatively small group of people. But an emotional exhibit such as this one can reach past the brain and grab the heart, creating empathy for those who suffered.”

“His art was very powerful and it evoked a great deal of emotion and thought. I think the biggest takeaway is that art can tell a story and that one.s emotions can be displayed through art.”
