From Prague to Budapest, 44 people embarked with DLP and Seymour & Associates Travel on the Uniworld River Cruise. During our tour we explored Jewish heritage and cultural sites, from synagogues to monuments, excavation sites to Holocaust memorials. Our adventures gave us glimpses of what life was like during different time periods, making history more tangible. It’s easier to understand and appreciate the past when you see its remnants contrasting with the present day.
Leora Raikin, Founder and Executive Director of DLP, used this appreciation in her lectures on Documenting History through Art, Fusing Literature and Art, and The Interactive Art of Curation. Using David Labkovski’s artwork, Leora helped passengers experience history through the lens of a survivor. Passengers participated in curating their own mini-exhibit with prints Leora brought with her on the trip.
To commemorate our journey, a beautiful Shabbat service was performed onboard, with guests enjoying delicious challahs baked by Uniworld chefs.
Thank you to our host and organizer, Lisa Eidman from Seymour & Associates Travel, who is donating $500 from each stateroom to DLP for our ongoing Holocaust programs. If you’re interested in joining a future Jewish Heritage Cruise, please connect with DLP for more information.
Thank you to Gary Katz for the group photographs!
