The exhibit “A Visual Diary of the Past,” along with accompanying educational components and interactive activities, was an incredibly successful, meaningful and impactful experience for over 1,000 students, parents, and faculty at Oak Park High School.
DLP students displayed true leadership; in particular, the six DLP student docents: Aliza Lam, who led the initiative, Aviva Medved, Maddy Sean, Thomas Naverette, Nitya Shivampert and Leah Gelick. They all completed the David Labkovski Student Docent & Leadership Training Program, and Aliza Lam completed the DLP curatorship program.
The week-long traveling exhibit was guided by phenomenal teachers Ms. Hankins & Ms. Mendez. DLP thanks them for supporting their DLP student docents! We also thank the students from the ” Grassroots Club,” who helped install the exhibit and supported the docents in guiding community members through the exhibit.
Over 30 classes toured the exhibit “A Visual Diary of the Past.”
“Thank you for bringing “A Visual Diary of the Past” exhibit to Oak Park High School in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day. Your knowledge and care in speaking about such a solemn subject was impressive. Hearing your unique stories about what inspired you to get involved in the project moved me. I know you will inspire others with your work to help ensure that the memory of the atrocities suffered during the Holocaust is never forgotten. Your commitment to remembrance is truly admirable and will have a lasting impact. Listening to you today made me proud, and I hope you are proud of yourselves too. You are doing such great work. Once again, thank you for your efforts in honoring the memory of the Holocaust victims and educating our community.
