Kristallnacht Commemoration
The DLP is an engaged learning partner at Loyola Marymount University.
The Engaged Learning Program offers students the opportunity to participate in a ‘real world’ application of their studies.
DLP worked with students in Dr. Margarete Feinstein’s Literature of the Holocaust course to curate this exhibit. Students read Labkovski’s narrative work, researched the historical context, and then worked in groups to connect the individual pieces together to create the exhibit. Their task was to make connections between Labkovski’s artwork, the literature they are studying in class, and survivor testimony to give deeper meaning to their Holocaust studies. These students have become wonderful curators of Labkovski’s work and will carry his message of bearing witness to history with them.
Their exhibit displayed at LMU on November 5. The exhibit then moved to The Los Angeles Jewish Home, Fountainview at Gonda. Students had the opportunity to give docent tours for the residents there.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to or visited this exhibit!
