As part of DLP’s in-school Student Docent and Leadership Program at Valley Academy of Arts and Sciences (VAAS), students had the opportunity to meet and learn from Holocaust Survivor Eva Perlman. The students, who are studying journalism, were able to ask Eva questions about her experiences and learn valuable lessons about bearing witness to history.
Applying the knowledge they gained from Eva and DLP’s program, the VAAS eighth grade students curated the exhibit “Documenting History through Art: The Life and Art of David Labkovski,” as a culmination of their in-school semester-length DLP program.
LAUSD Board member Scott Schmerelson expressed that the exhibit was so professional, he felt as if “he was at a museum” and California State Senator Henry Stern commented, “What an eye opener that was…I’m still processing everything I learned.”
Thank you to LAUSD and VAAS for promoting David Labkovski Project’s mission and for supporting our campus programs.
